A driver was hospitalized with possible internal injuries after crashing into a business in the 1300 block of Leopard on Tuesday. Police believe the accident was the result of street racing. It was around 11 a.m. when police say two vehicles, a silver Nissan and a black Dodge Challenger, were driving at around 80 miles per hour on Leopard near City Hall. The driver of the Nissan crashed into the Brooks Tire building and the Dodge fled the scene. There were several witnesses who say they saw the two vehicles speeding down the street, some even coming close to being hit. “It just sounded scary,” said DeAnna Casarez, who heard the accident. “I knew something was wrong, and it didn’t sound like anything I’d ever heard before.” “They were going at least 80-85 miles per hour down the street,” Larry Davis said. An ambulance was called out to the scene to take the driver of the Nissan to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital. Police say that driver may have sustained internal injuries. Police are still looking for the driver of the black Dodge Challenger. They are asking that he turn himself in.
