Corpus Christi 2013 — Caminha Carpet of Flowers Festival – Northern Portugal

On Sunday, June 2013 the streets of Caminha are decorated with a magnificent display of flowers, which on the night before brought the local population together during which they worked together with the help of the City Council to make this display possible.

In addition to flowers they use greens, sand and sawdust all painted various bright colours, so that carpets look as spectacular and cheerful as possible. In addition, the municipality provides a locksmith that masterfully made the ironmoulds used in making the carpets.

This is a tradition that brings the local population together every year; the results can be seen in this video, quite stunning.

This festival culminates with a procession of the Blessed Sacrament, which takes place at 16:30. The Feast of Corpus Christi is an initiative of Arciprestado de Caminha, who has the support of the City Council.
