Firefighters/EMTs Steve Bowers and Kassy Goce help administer doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to eligible senior participants of the city’s Meals on Wheels program on Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, in Corpus Christi, Texas. The Corpus Christi Fire Department has spearheaded a program for administering COVID-19 vaccines to vulnerable elderly populations through utilizing existing rosters kept by the city’s Meals on Wheels initiative and those of other civil senior service programs.
Since beginning last Tuesday, paramedics have inoculated at least 680 people. They started with the city’s 13 meals on wheels routes. Now, they’ve opened a hotline for homebound residents to schedule an at-home shot.
